I returned my defective Roomba in late August 2019 and they lost it somehow. After weeks of waiting I received a cheque but it was made out incorrectly (not their fault) I emailed until they were ignored and then started calling them. As of today, December 9, I am still waiting to receive a replacement after two promises that one had been sent and then was told that it is being “processed” and will be at least a week to do that. I doubt that I will receive my cheque before the new year. I am so incredibly upset and angry at this appalling lack of decent customer service!

Lilfetime guarantee is a sham

Bought sandals for $100. Broke after years of service. One representative from South America told me that I had used them for over a year. I asked her how long a lifetime guarantee usually went for. Sent them back was told they now longer make them but could not get my money would need to pick out something else. Picked out sandals that were 79.00. They sent me an invoice for close to $40 as my original purchase had $40 worth of postage and handling. They then charged $10.00 for their free return label. The $79.00 sandals are now on sale for $49.00. This will not be my last review of this company and their shady practices.

Do not depend on this company when they promise and charge for two day shipping.

Bought a $100 clothing item and paid for two day shipping to San Francisco. FedEx tracking shows it will take 15 days to arrive. Not only that, Hammacher Schlemmer sent an email confirmation after my purchase that showed an incomplete address even thought I had provided a complete address. I called and they apologized and said it was corrected. I asked for a new email confirmation with the full and correct information and they said their system made that impossible. Following that call I received two more calls from Hammacher Schlemmer about the order and it proved they did not know what they were doing. Altogether it took 5 phone calls and I am not sure if the birthday gift will even be delivered - and even if it is - it will be six days late. I will not be buying from them again.

Returns a defective item cost was $149.95. Told over the phone and on the return order form I wanted an exchange. Received a gift certificate for $132.24. Shorted $17.71. Explanation was $7.95 for taxes and that’s just how we do it. No explanation for the rest of the missing money. Conveniently the supervisor wasn’t available to speak to. She refused to cancel the gift certificate and issue a credit card refund, I got screwed because customer service screwed up the return. Company sucks.

I bought a South African Savanna hat came crushed. The box is not tall enough about an inch would help. The other thing is a sticker was put on the outside brim of the hat it did not come off easy and had to use a cleaner to get the sticky off of it. I fixed the had you need to fix the maker and the sender. I love the hat K. Bishop

After 3 month of waiting they send me the gravity cool mesh lounge chair and it was a defect. I don’t understand why they send me 2 defective chair that has uneven mesh and fabric. And charge me 3 month in advance before I get the product. I will have field day in social media if I don’t get my money back.

Inflatable bed

I bought the twin inflatable bed last March. Just used it for a guest, and all went smoothly. BUT - do you think the manufacturers could have made the storage bag a little bit bigger? It is real hard trying to fold this thing and get it into the bag. The product is really nice, but why skimp on the bag??

On March 21, 2019 I purchased running shoes for $157. 18 on my credit card. I returned them because the size was too small. On April 17, 2019 I received back on my credit card $128.10. My card was charged $10.95 for returning and $16.95 for shipping for a total of $28.10. I was told by their customer service supervisor, I should of read their policy on their web site before ordering. Before consider ordering from Hammacher's - do your due diligence and read their web site carefully to avoid a bad experience at your expense.

Sad Product Still For Sale

Apparently the Hammacher Schlemmer catalogue website is not taking any more product reviews. I searched it thoroughly and could not find any “submit” box. I have learned one very important thing: Do Not purchase anything by way of the internet or even a supposedly reputable company’s website without having first read as many reviews of a prospective purchase as possible. I recently purchased the “World’s Smallest Automatic Umbrella”...it is NOT the smallest, by the way. But it IS the cheesiest, most over-priced and flimsy umbrella I’ve seen to date. It also had the name “Hammacher Schlemmer” printed along the edge of the umbrella fabric; this was very easy to overlook in the very tiny photo and I certainly didn’t want to advertise for them. It was to be a gift, sent to another address, but ended up at my address; fortunately, as I would’ve been extremely embarrassed to have given such a poor quality item as a gift to anyone. When I phoned customer service and asked to speak to their most senior representative, President or CEO, and asked for his/her name, I was told they couldn’t give it out and I was then transferred to a “manager”: Mr. Derek ? who declined to give his last name . ( if Derek was even a real name) I was given the same “bot-babble” response from Mr. Derek ? as the scripted “Merchant Response” in the customer reviews and I realized I was dealing with a company that doesn’t give a fig about its customers and will give only excuses, platitudes and insincere “apologies” whenever a disappointed customer complains. When I stated that I intended to return the item, and requested that HS’s customary (?) $10.95 return fee not be applied to my credit card, I was given yet another convoluted run-around. Since my call wasn’t related to damage or malfunction, it was simply because the product was a piece of junk, I was told I would be issued a special return label ( different from the one enclosed in the original box) and I would be “refunded” my original shipping/handling fee of $7 and change. We went round and round again and I finally decided to return the umbrella and want no further dealings with Hammacher Schlemmer...I won’ t be buying another thing from them.

11/22/18 I received two 7' Dicken's style lamp posts for $423.00. I thought they would be sturdy and last for years.

They arrived slightly damaged, but I assembled them anyway. 5 minutes after I put them on my porch they blew over and broke apart. They were advertised as properly weighted and sturdy. They are garbage, cheaply made and worthless, as is the company.

I emailed customer service and street a week still no response. I called yesterday, waited on hold for 75 minutes. Once the representative answered she couldn't help me, she said someone would call me back the same day...

I'm still waiting.

This company does not stand by their products. They have no honor.

"Best Nose Hair Trimmer"

Well all the reviews not only on their website but in a google generated review state this was the best. A wee bit pricey for a nose hair trimmer plus $7.95 for shipping!

Received the product and its defective. Wont even run. On top of that they just sold me a WAHL name brand product. The picture of it on the website had the manufacture name photo shopped off of it and it is not disclosed in the description.

I could have driven 1/2 a mile to multiple stores like walgreens, target etc and purchased it at half the cost and no shipping... Now they want to charge me $11.00 to return it! A total of $40 to purchase a POS that doesn't even turn on!!!! Cheap products and over priced at that!!!

Never shop here- know I will never again!!! Worst experience ever

BUYER BEWARE! I purchased 2 monogrammed bathrobes via their on-line store but received UNMONOGRAMMED bathrobes instead.

Despite having placed the order 7 days prior, when I called to have the error corrected, I was informed they no longer sold the bathrobes. I hung up with the agent, went back on-line and saw the bathrobes still listed and immediately called the company back. The next agent told me the previous agent had made an error and they still sold the bathrobes. The problem was the bathrobes were intended to be x-mas gifts and the new delivery would be over a month away.

The original order was placed on 11/29 and took about a week to arrive. I attempted to place a replacement order on 12/8 but was told delivery would not be until after Jan 1. Disgusted I told them that was unacceptable and would keep the unmonogrammed bathrobes and requested a refund of the price difference, which was $10 for each bathrobe for a total of $20. Although the company stated they would refund me the $20 difference within 3-4 days, the refund never came.

After numerous e-mails and phone calls I'm still waiting. The canned response appears to be "it will be a few more days" or "it's still being processed". Really?! It takes 30+ to process a $20 refund?!

THIS COMPANY IS AWFUL and their policies are monetarily geared in their (probably unlawful) favor. Shipping rates hugely elevated and are based on the order's total monetary cost and not on "actual" shipping costs. Additionally, they overcharge sales taxes. I was charged 9.8% sales tax despite my actual tax being 9.0.

They probably pocket the whole amount. If they're not crooks, they're the next worst thing ... Quick to charge your card, but slow to admit errors or provide refunds. And from the sound of the other reviews on this page … if it quacks like a duck … The state attorney general should investigate this company.

Definitely unethical and probably unlawful. Will never buy from them again.

Bad first impression

Ordered two items for Christmas presents. Never got a confirmation via email of the order except from my PayPal account. Odd since my email account was on file and verified. One item arrived as expected. Waited for the other- - - nothing forthcoming from Hammacher to say it was ordered and on the way. FINALLY I called to see what the order status was as I was afraid it would not arrive in time. With no confirmation number I had to rely on my name to find the order. Order was found and the agent told me it was back ordered and the confirmation would have told me this. EXCEPT - - I did not get one!!! Called a second time and cancelled. This company needs better management. I will not order from them again and this makes me sad as they have interesting products.
